So basically you're locally downloading the hosted world (realm), apply changes, then re-uploading. I'd rather call them "local world" and "hosted world" or something like that. If you're confused, it's because Mojang/Microsoft uses realm and world inconsistently. STEP FIVE: Show your 8 year old that, after 32 years of fucking with computers, you do indeed know more about this shit than she does. STEP FOUR: Back to your realm settings! Now you're going to "REPLACE WORLD" with the one you just added the mod packs to. STEP THREE: Apply the mod packs to this local world that looks identical to your hosted realm. Then realize it downloaded the realm as a local world. STEP TWO: Spend 10 minutes looking for the download file. STEP ONE: Go to the REALM SETTINGS and download the realm. You're already paying $6 a month for the Realm because the $3 Minecraft Server you originally configured didn't support AI and the cute fluffy animals they love. Now all your kids want the goddamn $6 mod and you're not paying it. SCENARIO: Your kid plays their cousin's World with a cute mod pack with fluffy unicorns.
